Understanding Stroke

Face: The face may droop on one side, and the person may struggle to smile or close their eye.

Arms: Weakness or numbness in one arm, making it difficult to lift both arms.

 Speech: Slurred speech, difficulty talking, or trouble understanding others.

 Time: Time is critical; dial 999 immediately if you notice any of these signs.

Other possible symptoms include sudden vision loss, severe headache, dizziness, confusion, and difficulty swallowing.

Effective stroke management involves rapid recognition, diagnosis, and treatment. Here are essential steps:

Immediate Response: Call for emergency help (dial 999) even if symptoms disappear. Every minute counts.

Assessment and Diagnosis: A thorough clinical assessment, blood tests, CT scans, and other imaging techniques help determine the type and cause of the stroke.

Treatment Options: Ischaemic Stroke Clot-dissolving medications (thrombolysis), aspirin, and other anticoagulants.

Rehabilitation: Early rehabilitation, including physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy, helps patients regain function and adapt to changes.
